Physicochemical properties

Chemical formula Cu (OH) 2. Molecular weight 97.56. Blue to blue-green gel or pale blue crystalline powder, toxic. The relative density is 3.37. The color darkens at 60~80 degrees. It is insoluble in cold water, decomposed into cupric oxide in hot water, dissolved in acid to form divalent copper salt, dissolved in excessive concentrated alkali to form tetrahydroxycuprate, dissolved in concentrated ammonia water or potassium cyanide solution to form dark blue tetramethylammonium dihydroxide (II) solution or colorless potassium tetracyanide (II) solution, respectively.

Under stirring, ammonia water is added to the hot copper salt solution, the precipitation is filtered out and washed thoroughly with hot water, and then the copper hydroxide is obtained by soaking in sodium hydroxide solution at 30 ~C, filtering and vacuum drying. Used as mordant, paper coloring agent and as raw material for the preparation of Cuprammonium solution for copper salt or rayon.

Protective fungicide

Copper hydroxide is a protective bactericide. The particle size of the powder is fine. The particle size per kilogram of the powder is three times as much as that of ordinary copper. The powder has excellent diffusivity and adhesion. Therefore, after the application of pesticides can evenly adhere to the surface of plants, and the contact surface with pathogens is larger, not easy to be washed away by water, so the bactericidal effect is stronger. The preparation is stable for more than 5 years at room temperature.
